Nana used to jot down quick tips on her recipe cards and I’ve been finding them in between her recipes. Follow this simple and easy tip to freeze extra apples for pies, tarts and baking.
Quick Tip To Freeze Apples
Slice apples into a solution of 1/2 tsp of salt and 1 quart of water. Let sit for 10 minutes and then drain the apples and spread them out on a paper towel to remove some of the excess water. Put the apples into freezer bags OR if you are using them for a pie, you can freeze them in a large freezer bag on a pie plate. Once frozen stack them in the freezer until ready to use.
