Near the front of Nana’s recipe box at all times was this Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe Card. She’s rewritten it a number of times over the years. She often baked these for my sisters and I and when she lived with us; she baked them for her great granddaughter, Darla too 🙂
Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup softened margarine
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 package of chocolate chips
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
Directions
Cream together the margarine, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Combine the flour, soda and salt and slowly blend them into the first mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and add 1 cup of nuts (optional).
Drop by teaspoonful on a greased cookie sheet (or parchment paper covered cookie sheet).
Bake at 375 F for 10-12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
